Bariloche is a stunning town, situated in NW Patagonia by the Andes, in the heart of the lake district of Argentina. It has plenty to offer all year round: wonderful hiking in summer and autumn and fantastic skiing in the winter.
It has a buzzing nightlife, with plenty of great bars where you can learn to unwind like a true Argentine! It is also a town famous for chocolate and delicious local pastries, which taste even better with dramatic mountain ranges and lakes as the scenery.
You will find that locals are friendly and supportive with Spanish students. I strongly recommend homestays with a local host family to not only improve your Spanish skills but also gain a valuable local perspective.
How to get to Bariloche:
Bariloche is a popular town and so is easily accessible by bus or plane from Buenos Aires and some surrounding towns.
By Plane:
Aerolineas Argentina and LAN both fly daily from Buenos Aires to Bariloche.

By Bus:
A cheaper option is to travel by bus, which leave daily from Buenos Aires and take at least 20 hours. The Bus network in Argentina is very popular so there are plenty of different companies. Often it is even possible to find buses with “camas” (beds.)
